Miscreants kill cop in East Garo Hills

SHILLONG: Unidentified miscreants assaulted one police personnel and his colleagues leading to his death at Nengpatchi village under Rongjeng in East Garo Hills District on Thursday night.
Police informed that the incident occurred when four personnel from the 5th MLP Battalion – Wilbert Sangma, Ponting G Momin, Thomas G Momin and Dilip G Momin – were returning to Samgong in civil uniforms after attending a wedding at Bajengdoba.
On the way, armed unidentified miscreants attacked them and looted cash and other valuables.
Wilbert Sangma, who sustained injuries, was removed to Williamnagar Civil Hospital but was declared dead at the hospital.
