Aizawl:The Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) on Thursday decided to observe a 12-hour statewide bandh on February 12 in protest against the hike in the price of rice sold through PDS and increase in rates of different taxes and non-tax revenues.
The MNF, in a statement here, said the bandh was necessitated by the fact that the state government refu-sed to roll back hike in rice prices by 58 per cent and also other taxes, non-tax revenues and service tariffs like land tax, water and power tariffs. The MNF office bearers’ meeting held under the chairmanship of former CM Zoramthanga alleged that the Congress ministers, parliamentary secretaries and legislators led luxurious lives even as the state was reeling under severe financial crisis.
