SHILLONG: Disappointed at the government’s alleged failure to rehabilitate surrendered cadres, ANVC-B leader Bernard Rimpu Marak said that without proper support the disbanded outfit’s members will go astray.
“The Government had assured many good things to us before disbanding the organization but no initiatives have been taken to rehabilitate the cadres. Frustration is brewing among all members of the disbanded groups. Peace in Garo Hills is like a lull before the storm. We fear, without proper rehabilitation, the cadres will go astray,” Marak said in a statement issued here.
Regarding Silgrak marak, who was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a teacher, the ANVC-B leader said that the former rebel drove an auto rickshaw to make a living.  “He did not go to Mankachar nor was he in possession of any weapon. He was asked by three non tribal persons to drop them to Nehru Park. On reaching the place, he was asked to wait but they disappeared and police arrived,” Marak said adding that the cops should have apprehended the three persons to find out the truth.
