PJ Marbaniang body to be exhumed tomorrow
SHILLONG: With the police admitting that the death of Sub-Inspector P. J. Marbaniang was due to murder and not by suicide which was the earlier version of police, the mother of the victim urged the Special Investigation Team to carry out several forensic examinations when the body will be exhumed on February 13.
In a letter addressed to senior police official H. Marbaniang, who is the heading the probe, the mother of the victim D. Marbaniang said that certain forensic examinations should be conducted to determine the murder of his son.
She wanted X-ray of the neck and head of the slain officer to be done, besides producing the clothes last worn by him.
She said that the mobile phones and call details should also be provided.
The mother said that her son Leo Marbaniang, had noticed that the neck of late Marbaniang was falling towards one side even when propped up with support. “He has also seen that a lot of cotton wool was put in the mouth and when that was taken out, the mouth was opened and the tongue seems to be pushed inside and the teeth were apart”, the mother said.
According to the mother, it was also noticed that diapers were put on his deceased son. His eyelids were also black and one side there was dilated pupils. “My son could have suffered a blow from the murderers and then they must have strangled him causing passing of stool, and the bluish black eyelids, which is evident in cases of strangulations and then he was shot to make it look like suicide”, the mother alleged . On speaking to some doctors it was revealed that these are clear signs of strangulations, she said.
She said that the second post-mortem should be done thoroughly by an expert pathologist, taking all this in the report to be provided to the experienced pathologist to be appointed for conducting the post mortem. “The pathologist may also be asked to seek any relevant signs of struggle for defence, my son may have put up against his assailants”, she said.
The hyoid bone may even be determined, if it is intact. The tongue may be checked if there are any bite marks and it may also be required to observe if there is any presence of semen, she added.
She also wanted the videography of 2nd postmortem besides the X ray of the head and the neck.
“It would also be appropriate to send the diapers, which are put in the grave along with the coffin, for FSL examination and check for presence of semen and stool”, the mother said.
The family also wanted the police to provide the clothes last worn by him to them along with two mobile phones and the call details of the sim cards of her son from January 1 2015 to 30 to be made available.
“My son has served the state and performed his duties as required by him and we hope that the state and the police machinery will do justice to him in bringing out the truth of how he was murdered and who murdered him”, the mother said.
