One Billion Rising
The North East Network will organize the One Billion Rising campaign at State Convention Centre on at 5 PM on February 14 under the theme “rising for love, peace and equality”. The North East Network will also conduct a flash mob under the theme “Rise for Equality” at Khyndailad at 3 pm the same day.
Valentine’s Day
The Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, Jowai will organize a youth fest on the occasion of Valentine’s Day at the Thomas Jones Synod College campus on February 14 in collaboration with Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai. The youth fest will be organised under the theme “this valentine fall in love…but be smart: Protect your mind, safe guard your body”.
Awareness programme
To make the people aware of gender inequality in the society, the We United Socio Cultural Sports Club organised a theme based awareness and education programme on “Gender Equity” in Lumpyrdi Iongpiah community hall, Jowai recently.
Cleaning drive
As part of KJP Synod Sepngi which is scheduled at Myriaw from February 20-22, the Office of the Block Development Officer and the local Dorbar Shnong organized a cleaning drive at Myriaw and adjoining villages on Monday. The cleaning drive which also a part of the Swacch Bharat Mission saw active participation from shop owners, youths and students from various schools in Nongstoin.
Body found
An unidentified body of a male was found lying at Luckier Road, Garikhana and taken to Shillong Civil Hospital. Relatives of the deceased have been requested to contact police for identification.
