SHILLONG:  There will be exodus of actors and technicians  from Northeast to Bollywood if the Centre implements one of the recommendations  of  Bezbaruah Committee report which dealt with the issue of racial discrimination and the ways and means to address it .
“As Bollywood plays such a prominent role  in forming images in minds of people, DoNER ministry should consider , a suitable scheme of incentives  for encouraging to use  Northeast locales for Bollywood pictures”,  said the Bezbaruah  Committee  report.
According to the report, such incentives may also encourage popular serials in TVs  to look at the Northeast , even to include Northeast stories in such serials.
The Centre is initiating several steps as recommended by the Bezbaruah Committee to address the concerns of the people of Northeast  residing  in Delhi.
The Centre has already announced implementation of some important recommendations of the Committee.
In the context of the recommendation of the Bezbaruah  Committee on North east representation in Bollywood , the current reality is that there is hardly any presence of  Northeast talents in Bollywood movies  and there was a serious debate in the past for ‘neglecting’ the Northeast when  producers and Director of Mary Kom chose Priyanka Chopra instead of an actress from Manipur which has no dearth of  talents.
