New Delhi: Cross-border movement of terrorists and smugglers and illegal immigration have figured at the Home Secretary-level talks between India and Bangladesh held here on Tuesday.
A Bangladesh delegation, led by Senior Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Mozammel Haque Khan discussed with Indian delegation led by Union Home Secretary L C Goyal on how to improve close coordination between the border guarding forces of the two countries to check anti-social elements along the border, official sources said.
India is believed to have asked the Bangladesh to crush insurgent groups of the Northeast hiding in Bangldesh and promised to hand over Bangladeshi fugitives as early as possible. A joint declaration about the outcome of the meeting is expected on Wednesday The joint working group of India and Bangladesh had met here yesterday and framed the broad parameters for today’s meeting.
Earlier, the Bangladeshi delegation called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed issues of mutual concerns. (PTI)
