IMPHAL: The officials of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), government officers and their armed guards had a narrow escape on Saturday when examinees and local residents attacked them on the campus of Lilong Haoreibi College in Thoubal district.
Disciplinary steps are being contemplated against the armed guards since they had remained mute spectators when over 10 government vehicles were vandalised by examinees and local residents.
The official entourage led by K. Arthur, chairman of the COHSEM. had gone to college on Friday afternoon to make surprise checks at the examination centre.
When two students who were caught red handed while copying were about to be expelled, other examinees and local residents started the attack. (Agencies)
