Agartala: Congress on Tuesday apparently asked CPI(M) to support it in its fight against the ‘misrule’ of Narendra Modi regime, but also warned that it would launch movement against the ‘anti-people’ government headed by the left party in Tripura.
AICC general secretary V Narayanswami on Tuesday said CPI-M could extend its support to Congress in its fight against the ‘misrule’ of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre. “We are continuing our movement against the misrule of the NDA government led by Narendra Modi and CPI-M could extend its support in our fight against the government.
They supported UPA government at the Centre and can still continue it,”Narayanswami told a press conference.
However, he made it clear that his party would launch movement against the ‘anti-people’ government led by CPI-M in Tripura despite their support in the central level. “In the 30 years of rule of CPI-M, Tripura became backward and there is not a good road or health care in rural areas. We must launch movement in the state to stir up people against these,” he added.
He termed the Narendra Modi government as a ‘non-performing’ one, which failed to fulfil three key promises — to bring back black money stashed in foreign countries within 100 days, arrest the spiralling price rise and jobs to 1.5 lakh crore by 100 days of BJP’s coming to power.
“He is performing less and giving more lectures, his government is a non-performing government,” he said. The NDA government has already reduced the outlay of MGNREGA from Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 30,000 crore and fate of other welfare schemes remain uncertain, he added.
“The Prime Minister addressed as many as 60 rallies in the Delhi Assembly elections. Besides, 35 Union Ministers and 170 MPs joined the party campaign. But people’s verdict went against the BJP. It reflects voters rejected Modi magic though the Congress could not make a mark in the electoral battle,” he said. (PTI)
