SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has stressed on the need to have multi-level skilled workforce that can enable the state to create conducive environment to attract investment for furthering business ventures.
He also called upon the people of North East and South East Asia to look for common business interests on Friday during the ongoing Skill Development conclave organised by OFRE School of Management in association with Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at Hotel pinewood.
The Chief Minister said, “If we are looking at potential partnership across the countries of South East Asia, our level of competition should be at global scale and not at local scale, therefore we want to create multi-level skilled workforce which creates necessary environment to attract investment for carrying out business ventures.”
He also added that the whole concept of Look East can ultimately be a game-changer only “if our own people are willing to participate.”
Other dignitaries who had attended the summit were Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General, ICC, P B O Warjri, Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, Ameising Luikham, Secretary, North Eastern Council (NEC).
Ton Sinh Thinh, Ambassador of Vietnam, Aung Khin Soe, Ambassador of Myanmar, Rukma Shumsher Rana, Ambassador of Nepal, Syed Muazzem Ali, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Pooja Kapur, Joint Secretary, ASEAN (ML Divison), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India were also present.
Dr. Jitendra K. Das, Director, OFRE School of Management was invited to address the theme in the inaugural session titled “Empowerment for Inclusive Growth” on Friday.
