NONGPOH: Aggrieved over the government’s continued silence on their demands for payment of pending salaries to the casual labourers of the Health Department, the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation has decided to launch an agitation in the form of a public rally and black flag demonstration on March 11 in the district.
Over one hundred casual labourers serving in the Health department have not received their wages since June, 2014.
The RBYF had, earlier, submitted a memo to the Health Minister seeking his intervention on the matter.
RBYF general secretary August G. Sten informed that the Federation was compelled to resort to agitation since the state government was turning a blind eye to their demands seeking the welfare of the casual workers and regularization of their services.
The RBYF has urged the shopkeepers to down their shutters for three hours from 9 am on March 11 when the black flag demonstration and rally will be organised.
