SHILLONG: The proscribed HNLC has dared the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to first ban all the ‘Hindutva ‘militant groups’ of the Sangh Parivar instead of banning the outfit.
Reacting to the recent move of the Centre to extend the ban on the outfit, the outfit’s publicity secretary, Sainkupar Nongtraw said in a statement issued to the media on Tuesday, “The Sangh Parivar is a family of several Hindu outfits inspired by the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), representing the Hindu nationalist movement, whose ultimate aim lies in transforming India into a theocratic Hindu state, and wipe away all minorities including Muslims, Christians and Sikhs.”
Listing the names of political party BJP, ABVP, BJYM – Youth wings, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the HNLC alleged that the most militant of them all is the Bajrang Dal , whose members have been involved in acts of violence against Muslims in various riots, desecration of churches etc.
“After so much the Bajrang Dal is not a banned organization,” Nongtraw said.
He also said that the police department alleges the HNLC is a bunch of criminals, but they seek the help of the home ministry to declare the HNLC as unlawful.
While referring to the Governor’s speech on peace talks, the HNLC said till date nothing concrete has been done by the state and the Centre.
“We are being taken for a ride,” the HNLC said, adding that the outfit will carry on its struggle irrespective of whether it is declared lawful or unlawful.
