Murder accused surrenders

JOWAI: A murder accused identified as Stebarwell Shylla (23) of Ringkyrtein village in West Jaintia Hills District surrendered before the officer in charge of Jowai Police Station on Tuesday morning.
Later he was remanded to five-day police custody.
The accused confessed that he murdered the headman of Ringkyrtein village, Clement Dkhar.
It may be mentioned that the body of the headman of Ringkyrtein village in Khanduli area of West Jaintia Hills was recovered from Bathang Synrang, a place located between Sanaro and Namdong villages.
“I shot him with my SBBL gun and later hit him with a machete (dao),” Shylla said alleging that the victim attempted to take his life on several occasions.
