Truth will prevail: Lapang

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed full faith and confidence in the honesty, integrity, dignity and patriotism of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has been summoned by the court in connection with the coal scam.
According to MPCC, Singh had led the country to new heights of progress and prosperity during his tenure for two consecutive terms from 2004 to 2014.
MPCC also observed that Singh was widely acclaimed, not only in his own country but in the world as a whole for his all-round qualities.
“It is unfortunate that such a person with clean records has been dragged into unnecessary controversy and personal harassment, which also came as a rude shock to all right-thinking people,” MPCC president D.D. Lapang said in a statement on Sunday.
Lapang said MPCC was confident that the truth will prevail and Singh would be absolved of all charges leveled against him.
MPCC also placed on record its deep appreciation and gratitude to AICC president Sonia Gandhi for her all out support to the former prime minister.
