Nagaland constable killed by colleague in hunting accident

Kohima:In a tragic incident, a Nagaland police constable was accidentally killed by his colleague near Tsutapela Gate under Mokokchung district last evening, while out on a hunting.The deceased has been identified as Yanger Ao. Official sources said that when two separate teams led by Yanger Ao and Tinu Ao, both constables posted at the Tsutapela gate, had gone for hunting in a nearby jungle, Tinu Ao reportedly shot Yanger mistaking him to an animal. Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police of Mokokchung said both had gone for hunting, when one of them identified at Tinu Ao accidentally shot Yanger. He said Yanger succumbed to his injuries while Tinu has been taken into custody.The SP further informed that Yanger was shot by a 12-bore rifle and not a service rifle, however, further details are awaited. Mizoram excise deptt seizes heroin, arrests one

Aizawl:Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department’s Anti Narcotics Squad on Wednesday seized 13 gm of heroin in Chaltlang locality here. Khawlneihmawii (40) of Aizawl was arrested in this connection, a spokesman for the Excise and Narcotics department said. Earlier on Monday evening, the Anti Narcotic Squad officials had seized 47.5 gm of heroin from Vaivakawn area in Aizawl and arrested C Vanlalliana (35) of Aizawl and Vanbiakthanga (29) hailing from the Mizoram-Myanmar border Zokhawthar village in Champhai district in this connection. The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and remanded to judicial custody in the Central Jail near Aizawl, the spokesman added. Huge quantity of explosives seized in Nagaland

Kohima:As many as 200 detonators along with fuse wire and 100 gelatin sticks were seized from check-post at Chumukedima.The explosives were concealed under the driver’s seat and two people have been arrested in this connection.Lidemo Lotha, (29), the driver of the vehicle carrying explosives, was arrested yesterday, superintendent of Excise mobile squad said. Based on his statement, a 41-year-old woman, identified as Supeno Lotha was later arrested from Mon Basti, Karbi Anglong district of Assam. As per the woman’s statement, she had procured the explosives from an unidentified contact in Diphu for Rs 12,000.The arrested along with explosives were taken to Diphupar police station of Dimapur town.
