Police foil bid to float militant organisation in Shallang

NONGSTOIN: Acting on information that some persons were proceeding from Shallang towards Riangdo for procuring arms and ammunition from an arms dealer, an ambush was laid near Riangdo, about 2 km from Riangdo PO on Wednesday.
During the ambush, four persons – Limbert Sangma, Mana Sangma, Marius Marak and Jodmoram Marak – all residents of Shallang were apprehended and Rs.1, 30, 000 in cash and two motorbikes were recovered from them.
The four persons later confessed that they were planning to form a new militant outfit to operate in Shallang area. The case has been registered and interrogation is on, police informed.
