Site inspection
Umsning legislator Celestine Lyngdoh on Friday inspected the construction site of the PWD road from Umjarasi to Langpadon village. The construction work of the seven kilometre stretch has been taken up under the PMGSY scheme at a sanctioned amount of Rs 7 crore.Lyngdoh who was accompanied by government officials expressed satisfaction at the pace of the work.
Office building inaugurated
Mawhati legislator Julius Dorphang on Friday inaugurated the office building of the Pynroilangika Women Development & Farmer Association of Banbudai village. The building was constructed under the SRWP scheme.
National seminar
A two-day national seminar on “Literary Journalism: Changing Perspective” commenced in North Eastern Hill University on Friday.  The seminar was organized by Hindi Department of NEHU with the assistance of University Grants Commission (UGC).
Bank strike
The Joint Council of Meghalaya Rural Bank Unions at the call of Joint Forum of Gramin Bank Unions (JFGBU), would observe a nationwide strike on April 28 in support of their various demands.Among others, the Union is demanding parity in pension and retirement benefits and wants the Union Government to expedite the process to settle the long pending issue by extending the pension parity at par with that of banking industry scheme of 1993.
Extension
The Director, Social Welfare Department, Meghalaya Shillong has informed that the last date for submission of application forms for the posts advertised under Integrated Child Protection Scheme has been extended for another 30 days from March 27 for residents of Ampati.
Music concert
Doordarshan Shillong will organize a musical concert at Pahamsyiem stadium at Nongpoh on Saturday from 4.30 pm onwards. The concert would feature bands from Shillong, Nongpoh and veteran soloists.
