SHILLONG: The Nyishi Elite Society has condoled the demise of octogenarian, former Union Minster of Tribal affairs and DoNER, Paty Ripple Kyndiah.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the Society said that as a befitting recognition of service of the late leader to the Nyishi community of Arunachal Pradesh, the team of executive members of Nyishi Elite Society led by General Secretary, Tarh Tabin laid wreaths and paid tributes on behalf of the Nyishi community of Arunachal Pradesh at his residence at Honeywood, Upper New Colony, Laitumkhrah on Sunday.
The team while interacting with the family members recalled the contribution of Kyndiah in replacing the alien and derogatory nomenclature-Dafla to Nyishi by facilitating passing of the Indian constitution amendment bill in both houses of the parliament in 2008 after a very long struggle of the Nyishis for change of nomenclature for the last three decades.
“It was his historic contribution and commitment that he laid the amendment bill and passed for change of nomenclature in a record one day in both the houses of parliament while he was Union Minister for Tribal Affairs,” the Society said.
The team also recalled the presence of Kyndiah during the first Nyishi Day on April 19, 2008 as the Chief Guest at Itanagar in Arunachal.
