SHILLONG: The week-long Shillong Station Garden Competition and Flower Show 2015 concluded on Monday on a successful note. The event has been organised every year in the city since its commencement in 1989.
This year the competition was held in three categories – Gardens, Potted plants and Flower arrangements and generated overwhelming response.
The competition was judged by V. Singhania, Syrpai L Dkhar and Baphiralin from the Shillong Agri-Horticultural Society.
The garden competition ran from March 24-30 with judging of gardens of various army units by three sets of judges.
Potted Plants competition was held on March 31 at Rhino Training Complex.
The event culminated with a ceremony at the Rhino Training Complex on Monday where the chief guest was Lt. Gen. S.P. Nawathe, GOC 101 Area, accompanied by the President, AWWA.
A number of cultural dances and martial arts display by Assam Regimental Centre and 58 Gorkha Training Centre were the highlight of the event, which was followed by distribution of prizes to the winners and band display by the Pipe Bands.
