Cabinet sticks to ‘Administrator’s Rule’ decision
SHILLONG: Sticking to its previous decision to impose “Administrator’s Rule” in the KHADC, the State Cabinet on Thursday decided to send a fresh recommendation to the State governor Keshari Nath Tripathi in this regard.
Informing this, a highly placed source said that the State Government claimed that the present arrangement within ARPA under the leadership of Metbah Lyngdoh would also not last in view of the frequent change of leadership within the ruling coalition in the past one year.
In its fresh recommendation to the Governor, the state government, while justifying its earlier decision, has also made a mention about the downfall of Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit and Adelbert Nongrum as Chief Executive Member (CEM) within a span of ten months due to infighting within the members of ARPA, the source said.
None of the Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials, however, was willing to share any information with the media about this Cabinet decision after being reportedly instructed by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
Earlier, Governor Tripathi had returned the file pertaining to imposition of “Administrator’s Rule” in the KHADC with the suggestion asking the Government to re-examine its decision.
According to high level sources, he (Tripathi) has made this suggestion taking into account the resignation of Adelbert Nongrum as the CEM, a copy of the resignation letter which was also submitted to the Governor.
