New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils’ newly appointed skipper Jean Paul Duminy on Saturdayexuded confidence on his side, saying it will be a challenge for him and the support staff to figure out the winning combination in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).
After a lackluster performance last season, the Daredevils clearly start as underdogs in this edition of the cash-rich tournament. The management’s decision to release 13 players from the squad have also created a new challenge for head coach Gary Kirsten to rebuild the side yet again.
”Obviously, last season, we were very bad in a lot of areas. This season, we want to rectify that. I think that is the disadvantage for us (in comparison) to most teams that they are pretty settled in how to go about the game. It is important for us to learn that very quickly and make sure we are on top of our game,” Duminy, who was one of the players to be retained, was quoted as saying by iplt20.com.
With the addition of Indian veterans – Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan, both Duminy and Kirsten have a key role in trying to create a winning combination with the fresh faces.
”I am pretty excited with the caliber of players we have this season. We have to figure out, how we go about first up as it’s a little disadvantage for us trying to figure out combination. It’s exciting to find fresh faces with new energy,” Duminy said. (UNI)
