St. Edmund’s Teachers, Shillong Cricket Association win

Shillong: St. Edmund’s Teachers defeated New Delhi by 47 runs in the opening encounter of the 3rd Vice – Chancellor Cricket Tournament 2015 organized by the Department of Sports North Eastern Hills University at SCA Cricket Ground, Polo, on Monday.
St. Edmund’s Teachers chose to bat and scored 171 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Dheeraj Borkotoky topscored with 89 runs off 61 balls, while Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets for 39 runs for New Delhi.
In reply, New Delhi scored 119 for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Sanjay Kumar scored 24 runs off 30 balls, while Daniel Kharkongor destroyed the opponents by taking 4 wickets for 27 runs.
n the second match, Shillong Cricket Association defeated NEHU by 18 runs. Electing to bat first, SCA scored 145 runs for 4 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Purojit Mondal smashed 60 runs off 54 balls, while Manik Das took 2 wickets for 22 runs for NEHU.
In reply, NEHU scored 127 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Geno Sangma topcored with 36 runs off 21 balls, while Suraj Chettri took 2 wickets for 30 runs for SCA.
Prof. B. Myrboh (Pro-Vice Chancellor) was the chief guest of the event.
