SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills is eying the e-District status with a plan to provide 11 categories of services to citizens via e-governance.
In this regard, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Sanjay Goyal chaired a meeting of the district level task force with NIC and other service providers on Monday to discuss the speedy implementation of certain services to the people.
According to Goyal under the e-District plan, applicants in need of various certificates need not come to the DC’s office, but can avail them at their door steps through the software to be installed in the common service centers and block development offices.
The applicants will be sent digitally signed certificates from the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
As many as 11 categories of services including ST, SC, PRC certificates among others will be provided once the E-District plan is fully materialized. While East Khasi Hills was selected for the pilot project, all the districts will follow the pattern.
