SHILLONG:  Following a recent news report on dumping of garbage by BSF personnel in an unauthorized place in Umpling, the BSF has said that it has taken corrective measures in this regard.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the BSF said that had it realized its error in dropping the garbage at an unauthorized place and cleaned the area the same day. To add to it, BSF troops also disposed of the garbage “thrown by locals” in Dong Shaneng during a cleanliness drive in Umpling on Saturday.
According to the BSF, the garbage was thrown in the area due to a communication error.
“The BSF is fully committed to cleanness of its campus and neighbouring areas in Shillong city,” the statement added.
The statement further said that BSF is the leading campaigner of Clean India and My Earth, My Duty. It also added that the BSF has on several occasions cleaned areas of the city voluntarily.
