Kohima: Newly formed NSCN (Reformation), led by Wangtin Naga and P Tikhak have forwarded a proposal to enter into a ceasefire agreement with the Centre.
The proposal from the newly formed Naga political group was forwarded to Lt Gen (Retd) N K Singh, chairman of the Cease Fire Supervisory Board.
The Board (CFSB) on April 13, the NSCN (R) proposal maintained that after the unilateral abrogation of ceasefire by SS Khaplang and expulsion of Wangtin Naga and P Tikhak for attending the CFSB meeting at Chumukedima on March 27, the NSCN (K) split into two on the issue of ceasefire continuation.
Several ‘Kilonsers'(ministers), CCMs, regional authorities, secretaries and ‘army officers’ extended support to Wangtin Naga and re-affirmed for continuation of the ceasefire with GoI, the release stated. In this connection, CFSB chairman said the GoI had always maintained that any constructive proposals for ceasefire can be examined if they lead to facilitating genuine peace and development for the people in Nagaland.
He added that the proposal of NSCN(R) had been forwarded to the GoI so that it can examine the proposal in the context of the prevailing situation in Nagaland. (UNI)
