Aizawl/New Delhi: On a four-day tour of north-eastern (NE) states to strengthen party organisation in the region, BJP President Amit Shah on Thursday reached out to the youth in a rally in the Mizoram capital and assured them that the Centre would accord priority to their skill development. BJP said the visit of Shah was a significant attempt to deepen the party’s base in the remote region of the country.
“In a recent meeting of state office-bearers in Delhi, party leaders from the region had made several suggestions and Shah’s visit is an important step to expand and strengthen BJP’s base,” it said. Shah will visit Nagaland and Manipur on April 18 and address public meetings there. Addressing the party rally in Aizawl today, the BJP President said developing skill of the youth was paramount for all-round growth of the region including Mizoram.
Advocating enhancement of trade volume with neighbouring Asian countries, Shah said BJP had always accorded priority to the region by initiating special packages since the days of Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the country’s Prime Minister.
He said financial assistance to the north-eastern states have been raised after the NDA came to power. The BJP President asserted that the Modi government had been fighting corruption at all levels and corruption will never be tolerated. Shah left the national capital today and would return on April 19. (PTI)
