BJP president to arrive  in Arunachal on April 23
Itanagar: BJP national president Amit Shah will arrive in Arunachal Pradesh on a two-day maiden visit on April 23.Mr Shah, presently visiting the North East, will arrive here along with party’s general secretary and in-charge of NE state, Ram Madhavji, according to state BJP president Tai Tagak, on Tuesday. He added that the national president will also interact with social and cultural groups during his stay. Mr Shah will brief the media on April 24, Mr Tagak said. (UNI)

Over 32,000 cattle meant for smuggling seized along borders
New Delhi: A total of 32,400 cattle heads have been seized along various Indian borders this year while they were being smuggled out, government on Tuesday said. A maximum of 25,843 cattle were seized along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal followed by 3,772 cattle heads in Assam along the same border. Similar instances were also reported during the same period from along the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders of the country, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in a written reply to Lok Sabha. Former Mizoram Guv calls on U’khand Guv
Dehradun: Former Mizoram Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Manmohan Lakhera made a courtesy call on Governor Dr K K Paul at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday.  Lt Gen Lakhera, who belongs to Uttarakhand, has served as Governor of the Union territory Andaman and Nicobar Islands as well as Puducherry (Pondicherry).The two talked about the development of Uttarakhand. The Governor presented Lt Gen (Retd) Lakhera with a memento. (UNI)

Huge quantity of cartridges seized at Rangia  
Rangia: A huge quantity of assorted live cartridges have been seized from a man at Rangia railway station in lower Assam by Railway Protection Force (RPF). The bag of the man was checked last night following suspicion and the cartridges were found in his posession, RPF Rangia officer-in-charge Biplab Mazumdar said today. The seizure include 31 rounds of cartidges of .303 rifle, 22 rounds of cartridges of .38 pistol, a mobile phone, the man’s driving licence issued in Dimapur from where he was travelling, his voter identity card and another i-card of Nagaland Auto Association, Majumdar said.  (PTI)

ATM s damaged by miscreants in Tezpur
Tezpur (Assam):  At least seven ATM machines were damaged by miscreants in a failed bid to extract money from them in Assam’s Sonitpur district. According to police officials, seven ATM machines of different banks were smashed by the miscreants in and around Tezpur town last night. Police said the machines belonged to HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, PNB and Allahabad Bank, but the miscreants failed to take away any cash. No arrest has been made yet and police investigation is on, the official said. (PTI)
