Nephews crush uncle to death  over land dispute
Kota (Raj): A 63-year-old man was crushed to death under a tractor allegedly by his nephews over a land dispute in Khumbla village of the district, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Banwarilal and Hansraj Gurjar, the two nephews of deceased Laturlal Gurjar, accompanied by a few other people of Bangrodh village, reached Khumbla in a tractor and started filling the cultivated agriculture land with mud, police said. Laturlal along with his brother Modulal and sons Raghuveer, Giraj, Vidhaya resisted their activity but were attacked with sticks and sharp weapons, SHO Budadete Police Station, Bharat Singh said. Subsequently, the two nephews along with others crushed Laturlal under the tractor, killing him on the spot, Singh said. The deceased’s brother and sons sustained injuries in the scuffle and were referred to government hospital in Kota, the SHO added. Police said the two families were involved in the land dispute since long time. A case has been registered by Laturlal’ son Raghuveer against Banwarilal and Hansraj and their aides under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, police said. All accused were absconding and efforts were on to nab them, police added. (PTI)
BJP demands inquiry of witness murder in Asaram case
Muzaffarnagar: BJP activists here staged a demonstration demanding CBI inquiry into the murder of a witness in a rape case against Asaram Bapu. Hundreds of BJP workers led by vice-president of party unit here, Sarita Gore, took out a procession on Monday and submitted a memorandum to the city Magistrate demanding CBI inquiry into the case. They alleged that the local police have not arrested anyone in this connection yet. Akhil Gupta, a witness in a rape case against controversial self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, was shot dead on January 11 this year. (PTI)
Govt official held for accepting bribe
Raipur: A fisheries officer was arrested on Tuesday by Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district. Fisheries Inspector Lakhanlal Ahirwar (46) posted in Narharpur was caught while accepting bribe from the complainant Naradram Korram for awarding him lease for fisheries, an ACB official told PTI. Korram, President of Gondwana Fisheries Cooperative Committee and a native of Dumarpali village had filed an application seeking lease of Biranpur reservoir in the region for fish farming last year to the local Janpad Panchayat. The application was subsequently forwarded to Kanker district Collector who then sent it to the fisheries department after approval, the official said. Later an agreement was to be made with Chief Executive Officer, Janpad Panchayat. The fisheries inspector Ahirwar demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the applicant. Following this, the complainant approached ACB which laid a trap and caught the official while accepting the first instalment of the bribe – Rs 10,000 at his official residence in Narharpur village, he said. A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against the accused, the official added. (PTI)
