Four defectors may get plum portfolios

SHILLONG: Governor V Shanmuganathan has approved the list of the new Executive Members (EMs) of the KHADC.
Informing this here on Thursday, the KHADC chief Pynshngaiñ N Syiem said that he would allot portfolios to the new EMs on Friday.
As expected, the four defectors — PT Sawkmie (Mawlai), James Sylliang (Mawhati), Grace Mary Kharpuri (Nongshken) and Hadrian Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat) – have managed to feature in the list.
Among the Congress MDCs whose names found place in the list include Antonio War, Jansing Tynsong, Lamphrang Blah and the two first timers — Banteidor Lyngdoh and Sohra Donevan Wanlang.
Interestingly, nominee for one more post of EM is yet to be finalized.
Sources revealed that the Congress  has not been able to decide whether to nominate Jirang MDC Victor Ranee or Umroi MDC Albinus Lyngdoh to fill that post.
Meanwhile, speculations run high that the four defectors will be given the plum portfolios like Trade, Development, Forest and Market. Unconfirmed sources revealed that Sawkmie who has been given the Deputy CEM post is likely to be given charge of Development while Kharpuri will be given charge of Professional Tax and Market.
Sylliang will be given charge of Trade while Hadrian will get Forest department. The CEM, however, maintained that he was yet to the final call on the allotment of portfolios.
