Guwahati:  Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday commented that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre was going ‘back track’ in respect of implementing its much vaunted ‘Act East Policy’.
In a statement Gogoi said that by resorting to shoddy treatment to Assam in particular and North East in general and revoking the ‘special category status’ to the states in the region the much vaunted ‘Act East Policy’ would find it difficult to achieve its avowed objective.
Gogoi wondered that how the Modi Government was going to fulfill its poll promises of generating more employment avenues, attracting investments and creating industries in the North East under such circumstances.
“The Centre has also disappointed the social sector in Assam by slashing the fund allocation of centrally sponsored schemes,” Gogoi said.
