Guv to address Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti in city

SHILLONG: Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre (SNGCC), Shillong, a socio-cultural organization with spiritual and philanthropic focus, will celebrate the 161st birth anniversary of Jagatpurush Sree Narayana Guru on September 20 at State Central Library Auditorium.
Sree Narayana Guru was a great visionary, saint, philosopher and social reformer who stood for universal brotherhood.
Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan will grace the occasion as chief guest and Sivagiri Guru Dharma Pracharana Sabha, Kerala, Secretary, Swami Guruprasad will chair the session.
On the occasion, presentation of a national award instituted by Akshaya, a literary organisation from Kerala, “Akshaya National Award 2014” will be conferred by former secretary of Kerala Sahitya Akademy,  Payipra Radhakrishnan on SNGCC President, M. K. Mohanan for his  contributions in disseminating (Contd on P-10)

Radhakrishnan will also address the gathering recalling the contribution of Guru.
The main speakers on the occasion include Amitabha De, Director Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management, Shillong; V. K. Mohamed, Vice Chairman, Universal Confederation of Sree Narayana Guru Organisations, New Delhi, A. V. Anoop, Managing Director, AVA Cholayil Health Care Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, R. G. Lyngdoh, Vice Chancellor, Martin Luther Christian University, and Fr. George Thadathil, Principal, Salesian College, Darjeeling.
Around 150 delegates representing various Sree Narayana Guru organisations from all over India and abroad will attend the three-day session starting from September 18.
