Awareness programme on disaster preparedness held

Nongstoin: A series of Familiarization Exercise Cum Community Awareness programme was organised by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 1st Battalion, Guwahati in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Nongstoin  from September 8 to 12.
The awareness programme was on Disaster Preparedness for school students, teachers, Village Disaster Management Committees (VDMC), National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, Scouts and Guides, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Women Groups, Non-Government Organisations, Village Volunteers, Village Defence Party (VDPs), District and Block Officials, etc.
The training programme covered different aspects of Disaster Management including Emergency Method of Search and Rescue operation, First Aid, rescue from high rise building and Mock Drill demonstration by NDRF.
During the programme disaster management plans adopted by the District were shared with the NDRF and other stakeholders for knowledge sharing, improvement and modification.
The programmes were held at different locations like  Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nongstoin, Nongstoin College, St.Joseph School, Nongkasen, Lyngngam Higher Secondary School, Mawthengkut, Tirot Sing College, Pyndengumiong village, Mairang.
The resource persons present in the programme were inspector M S Patwal, NDRF and Jonathan Mawthoh, ADPO, DM Nongstoin besides others.
