One dies in road mishap

Shillong: One person died and two others sustained injuries when the SUV they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district on Tuesday.
The incident took place at around 6am at Umtyra village when the Silchar-bound SUV met with the accident, they said.
The driver of the SUV, Mujil Ali, along with two other passengers Harkirat Singh and Vishal Deb Barman, were admitted to the CHC at Khliehriat, a senior police officer said.
Ali, however, was referred to another neighbouring district hospital in Jowai where he was declared brought dead.
