RTI filed on border fencing compensation

TURA: An RTI has been filed in the office of the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner with regard to compensation made under Land Acquisition Act to make way for Indo-Bangla border fencing. In an RTI submitted to the Public Information Officer (PIO), the secretary of  Anti Corruption Wing of  AAYF, Chanang R. Sangma sought a detailed information on the number of A’kings affected by border fencing, reason for disapproval of the Council’s Land Acquisition report, whether A’king Nokmas were made aware of their rights prior to land acquisition, whether acquisition money was deposited by Home Ministry/NBCC before the DC from the day of actual land acquisition, whether area of fencing record of Union Government tallied with the findings of district administration and whether during the NBCC survey, officials of GHADC, District Administration, A’king Nokmas and affected parties were present.
