CM highlights achievements under IBDLP

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Thursday asserted that dairy farming in a cluster approach could be a game-changer for the rural populace.
Replying to a pending motion on the functioning of the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihoods
Programme (IBDLP), a flagship programme of the State Government, the chief minister highlighted the achievements under the flagship programme and added that ideas have been mooted for creating job avenues and economically empowering the people through   judicious utilization of natural and human resources.
He highlighted the benefits of bamboo and agar plantation and bee keeping.
Sangma also said that the government has initiated schemes under the Livestock Mission in the state.
He said that efforts were on to provide farmers in the State with appropriate market-linkage even as he observed that the government has made a humble beginning for the economic transformation of the State.
He further said that a delegation of farmers and officers would soon visit Vietnam which has made tremendous progress in terms of agricultural practices.
While asserting that success cannot be achieved overnight, he added that that there will be lot of visible success in the next one or two years.
“Let us all mobilize all our people to participate in the programmes,” he appealed to the legislators.
