Order under Section 144 CrPC promulgated

TURA:  The District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Tura has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting the practice of writing on walls, pasting of posters papers, defacement in any form, displaying of cut-outs, hoardings, banners, flags, etc on any Government premises, to ensure that the upcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council elections will be conducted in a fair and peaceful manner.
The order also prohibits displaying of flags and banners in private premises except with the voluntary written permission of the occupant. Displaying of flags and stickers in private and commercial vehicles too has been prohibited unless such vehicle obtains the requisite permit from the District Election Officer or Returning Officer.
