Programme on waste management held

NONGSTOIN: The PHE department of Nongstoin recently organized a programme on ‘Solid and Liquid Waste Management and Sanitation’ at Mairang, with an objective of transforming the area of West Khasi Hills into a clean area in near future.
Under the programme, the participating households, villages, institutions and commercial establishments were urged to dispose solid waste in a scientific manner.
Addressing the programme, Metbah Lyngdoh Mairang Legislator urged the public to practice simple cleanliness methods before the government installed waste disposal and recycling systems.
The programmed was attended by village headmen and village representatives from the entire Block of Mairang, officers and staffs from different line Department of Mairang. A similar programme was organized at Mawthadraishan.
