SHILLONG: An employee of the Forest Department Babul Chettri, who was   abducted by some unidentified miscreants on September 22, has been released after the family, reportedly, paid Rs 5,000  to the abductors. Police informed that Chettri was abducted from his residence at Khera check gate (EGH). However, on Thursday morning, he was released unharmed in a jungle near Khera  in East Garo Hills. Police said that though the family denied paying any ransom to the abductors,   sources informed police that around Rs 5000 was paid for Chettri’s safe release. Police suspect it to be a handiwork of some criminals.
Chisak Ch. Marak, the Range Forest Officer, Simsanggiri Range, had filed a police complaint  in this connection.
