SHILLONG: It was a proud moment for the people of Meghalaya when their Flagship programme, the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion Programme (IBDLP), which was initially awarded the SKOCH Order of Merit for qualifying amongst India’s best in Smart Governance, was eventually conferred the main SKOCH Award for being a critical reforms measure at the 41st SKOCH Summit on Transformative Governance held on September 23 at a glittering function at the India Habitat Centre New Delhi.
IBDLP was selected for its performance from amongst over a thousand entries across the country by a panel of distinguished judges.
Order of Merit was also awarded to three e-Governance projects of Meghalaya including e-Registration of Tax dealers for Taxation Department, ICAR expert SMS service to farmers and KIRAN Tracking System.
Aiban Swer, Director, Meghalaya Basin Development Authority; Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Umiam; Dr. Arnab Sen, Principal Scientist and Coordinator, KIRAN, ICAR Umiam; Benos Lyngskor, Technical Director NIC Shillong and other NIC officials were present during the award ceremony.
The Summit was inaugurated by M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Urban Development, in the presence of Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana, Sameer Kochhar, Chairman of the Skoch Group and Dr. M. Ramachandran, Former Union Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development.
