NONGSTOIN: Residents of Upper New Nongstoin are peeved by the erratic power supply in the area for over a year now.
According to residents, the power cuts occur over five to six times every day and the same has left them puzzled as the nearby New Nongstoin area does not experience such a situation.
“It’s really surprising that a place in a town area is not getting proper supply of electricity,” a resident of Upper New Nongstoin, N.Nongsiej said.
He added that whenever MeECL officials were contacted on the matter “false assurances” were given about some ongoing repair work to get the problem rectified.
“The MeECL officials are not at all serious about the problem,” alleged Nongsiej adding that the people of the area spend hundreds of rupees paying electricity bills and buying candles.
The worst sufferers, meanwhile, are the students, who have to study for hours without electricity.
The residents have demanded that the problem be resolved at the earliest.
