202 recruits pass out from Gorkha Rifles

SHILLONG: As many as 202 recruits passed out from 5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) and 8 Gorkha Rifles on Saturday. The passing out parade of recruit batch no 169 was held at 58 Gorkha Training Centre. The 202 recruits took the oath of affirmation in the ceremony. The parade was reviewed by Brig RS Thakur, Commandant, 58 Gorkha Training Centre and trophies were awarded to the young soldiers who performed outstandingly in various disciplines of their training. Manekshaw Trophy (awarded to the best recruit of the Batch) was given to Recruit Dil Bahadur Thapa while the Zorawar Khukri (awarded to best recruit of 5 GR (FF)) was given to recruit Jiban Shrees Magar. The Gen Dutta Trophy (awarded to best recruit of 8 GR) was given to recruit Roshan Gurung. The parents of the young soldiers were also honoured with the ‘Gaurav Padak’ to commemorate their contribution to the nation.
