Allow Hoping Stone’s kin to be elected unopposed: Sanbor

SHILLONG: The NCP has appealed other political parties not to put up any candidate for the Nongstoin by-poll as a mark of respect for the departed HSPDP leader Hoping Stone Lyngdoh.
“We as a party have decided not to put up any candidate for the Nongstoin by-poll and we appeal to other political parties to allow any relative of Lyngdoh to get elected uncontested as a mark of respect to the late leader since he was elected 11 times due to his honesty and simplicity,” NCP leader and South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai told The Shillong Times on Sunday.
Shullai, however, said the party would put up candidates in all the six vacant seats in the KHADC and one in the JHADC.
Shullai resigned as a member of the KHADC after the Meghalaya Assembly passed a Bill barring legislators from holding the posts of MDCs.
