SHILLONG: The Movement for Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Livelihood has decided to back the proposed rally of the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep to be held on October 30.
The decision to back the rally was taken in an executive meeting of the MIPRL held at 8th Mile on October 23.
Meanwhile, an organization comprising of 13 traditional heads and office bearers of 13 villages within the jurisdiction of Nongthymmai Pyllun has also decided to support the rally of the Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep.
In an executive meeting the 13 traditional heads cited various issues including interference in the functioning of the Dorbar, alleged encroachment by MUDA and delay on the part of the Meghalaya Governor to approve the Village Administration Bill as reasons for their support to the rally.
