Infantry Day celebrated

SHILLONG: The 68th Infantry day was celebrated at 58 Gorkha Training Centre on Tuesday.It was on this day in 1947 that the first contingent of infantry landed at Srinagar airfield and fought a courageous battle to save the Kashmir valleys from intruders.  To commemorate this victory, October 27 is celebrated as Infantry day each year. Lt. Gen. H.J.S. Sachdev, laid wreath at 58 Gorkha Training Centre war memorial ‘Veer Sthal’ in memory of the gallant Infantry soldiers.
