SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Thursday became the first Northeastern state to launch the upgraded version of Vahan 4.0 and Sarathi 4.0 which are software applications for registration of vehicles and issuance of driving license.
The software applications were launched by Transport Minister H D R Lyngdoh here on Thursday.
Vahan 4.0 is an upgraded version of the existing software (Vahan 2.0) that is currently running across all RTOs/DTOs in the State and is aimed at improving upon the existing system in many ways. The application has been designed and developed by the National Informatics Center, Transport Division, New Delhi.
Sarathi 4.0, for issuance of driving license, offers online services for learner’s license wherein applicants can apply for licenses from any location and complete the required process online.
The applicant needs to only visit the office of the DTO for capturing the bio-metrics (signature, thumb impression, photograph) and for the verification of the documents submitted.
Meghalaya is only the fifth state in the country to implement Vahan 4.0 and Sarathi 4.0.
