SHILLONG: Five days after Chokpot Block Development Officer (BDO) Jude Rangku T Sangma, who was taken away by GNLA militants from Deku Deganggre village on October 27, police are still clueless on the whereabouts of the official.
Police sources have admitted to lack of information on the fate of the BDO.
A day after the kidnap, the GNLA claimed responsibility for the abduction and stated that the officer had blamed the outfit and politicians for the delay in implementation of projects and withdrawal of funds worth over Rs.40 crore.
The GNLA has set a November-end deadline for the State government to stop anti-insurgency operations in Garo Hills in return for the safe release of the BDO.
Incidentally, police officials are tight-lipped on whether operations against militants will continue or has been stopped.
