Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday claimed that the state government has taken several people-centric schemes for development of the state and allegations made by AGP and BJP regarding poor road conditions was absolutely false and baseless.
“A comparative analysis of the performance of AGP and Congress governments will dispel all allegations as during the former’s regime, road condition of the entire state was in shambles,” Gogoi said in a statement.
The AGP had failed miserably to develop road conditions and a survey of the present road conditions by the AGP leadership would help them realise the development that had taken place in surface communication in the state during the last 14 years, he said. When the present state govt took charge in 2001, there was only 4,367 km PWD pucca road, but since then it has taken initiative to construct 25,189 km all-weather PWD pucca roads and 55 per cent of all PWD roads have been made pucca, he said.
