Paris: Second-seeded Andy Murray struggled past Richard Gasquet of France to secure his 67th win of the season and to progress through to the semifinals of the ATP Paris Masters here on Friday.
The Britain number one bounced back from a set down to claim a 7-6 (9-7), 3-6, 6-3 over Gasquet in a thrilling quarterfinal contest that lasted for about two hours and 38 minutes.
With the win, Murray has also recorded his seventh overall victory against No. 10 seed Gasquet.
World No.1 Novak Djokovic kept alive his chances of clinching a third straight Paris Masters tennis title knocking out No. 14 seed Gilles Simon 6-3, 7-5. Djokovic extended his winning streak to 19 matches on Friday to book a place in the quarter-finals. He will next face Tomas Berdych who reached the quarter-finals with a 6-3 6-4 victory over Tsonga, also on Friday. (Agencies)
