SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan, presented the Rajya Puraskar (Governor’s Award) to 36 Guides and 26 Scouts at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday on the occasion of the 65th Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts & Guides.
Ten adult awardees which included teachers and volunteers were also felicitated for their achievements at the state, national and international levels respectively.
The programme was preceded by the inauguration of the Bharat Scouts & Guides Flag by the Governor. While addressing the gathering, the Governor congratulated all the awardees, particularly the 62 Rajya Puraskar winners and urged upon them to aim higher and strive towards achieving the National Award (Rashtrapati Puraskar).He also appealed to the Scouts and Guides fraternity to adopt certain minimum ideals and to follow them with zeal and dedication.
“Do not build castles in the air. Instead, hone and put into practice the great ideas that come to mind,” he said.
Chief Secretary P.B.O. Warjri who is also the President of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides called upon the young ones to stick to their principles, to not relent and to have the courage to do what is just and right.
