SHILLONG: TUR, GSU and CSWO have urged people to take part in a public rally “Defending Human Rights in Garo Hills -Oppose AFSPA” on November 16 at 11am from Fire Brigade to Additional Secretariat Parking Lot.
“It is a matter of grave concern that there will be possible invocation of AFSPA in Meghalaya and we need to come together and make our voices heard.
“It is easy to call on AFSPA and never easy to revoke it as is the case in Manipur where it has been in operation since 1958 forcing Irom Sharmila to be on her hunger strike for the last 15 years,” the pressure groups said in a statement.
